Domestic

Welcome to Quaint and Quirky!

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to begin and maintain a blog of my musings.... an Internet scrapbook!

This is a photograph of one of my wedding presents - my great grandmother's sewing machine.
Beatrice raised 17 children during the Depression, the youngest being my grandfather. She never learned to read or write in English (She was a born and bred French Canadian). Her legacy was her family (and it is quite the legacy - come to our massive family reunions!).

My grandparents hired my uncle to lovingly refinish her sewing machine for me. Sadly, I have not found a belt to fit it yet, but she sits waiting to be used once more, to patiently stitch, to be restored to mechanical glory.

She needs a name.... any suggestions?
(My dress form is named Josephine, so I think it should coordinate!)

  1. Hello! I just saw your comment on Lauren's blog (with humility, etc.) and I thought I'd drop by...

She's beautiful! When I saw that Josephine was your dress form's name, I instantly thought of Little Women...for a sewing machine I would think of Meg, or perhaps Margaret? Enjoy her!

  2. Absolutely amazing, Keri! I love her story. Did you end up naming her, yet? Patiently waiting to hear your magnificent news any day. Praying for all of you! Lots of love!
