ReplyDeleteBest gift I've given? One year my husband really wanted some new tools but he really really wanted a table saw. Well my whole family got together and coordinated a whole bunch of new tools. Hand tools, a cordless drill, other stuff, but no table saw. I wish I had taken a picture of his face. :)

It was so cute. That was the happiest I've ever seen anyone act after a gift.

ReplyDeleteMy grandma taught me all I know about sewing. When she passed away in June 2010, I inherited her sewing supplies. I've had requests for repeats this year, but I'm out of ric rac!

I'm sure this will stick out for not being a handmade gift, but the most appreciated gift I gave was to my mother, who was notoriously difficult to please (she stuck a sampler I stitched for her in a spare closet). I gave her an appointment with an exclusive astrologer -- she loved every minute of it, would never have done anything like that on her own (by the way, i wouldn't do it for myself, either), and came away with a great story besides.
ReplyDeleteMy nephews (3 & 5) call my husband Uncie Sockhead. So for Christmas I crocheted them hats with socks on top. After opening it the oldest looked at my hubby and said "you got me a SOCKHEAD!" His face was priceless!

ReplyDeleteWell I can't think of anything too special as a gift that I have done. For my husband one year I researched and found a game for his Xbox that he really wanted. He was impressed by that considering I don't have much knowledge in that department. His gift this year is a trip to Eastern State Penetentiary which is a really awesome old prison to tour. He's psyched for that. :)
