A Present for Ezra

My friend Tara's little boy Ezra turned one at the beginning of November.  The theme of the party was Birthday Monsters which Tara pulled off amazingly well.  I'm sure she will be blogging about it soon!
I'm a girl who likes a party theme, so I had to make something to go along.  I had the idea of making a reverse applique bag for his books and toys.  THEN my idea got out of control but I had a better idea.  I did the reverse applique so that it looks like the monsters came crashing out of the bag and are causing havoc.
It started as this:
An orange t-shirt I bought at Target and various other knits/items waiting for repurpose.

It turned into this:
I was very happy with it and I hope the birthday boy will get good use out of it!

  1. I absolutely love Ezra's book bag! Can't wait until he can carry it himself when we make our weekly trip to the library :)

  2. That's AWESOME!!! I might just have to steal this idea ;) My baby Ezra is in heaven, but God has given me three wonderful little ones here on this earth and has healed me - seeing this post with his name actually made me smile. Thank you K for sharing. And thank you, God for healing my heart!

  3. LOVE it!! That is such a great idea!! I think I'm going to have to implement the idea in a different way for my grandnephew that's turning one in a few months. :-D

  4. The bag is absolutely adorable...I would love for you to share it at my "Anything Goes" Linky party...

  5. I love this bag :) I realize you posted this awhile ago, but I am definitly going to use it as inspiration for a bag for our little "Zoom" sometime soon. If you'd like to link up to a link party ... I'd love to have you join us today!
    Thank you
